Plant 4 India Fellowship
Plant 4 India is a one year long Fellowship in Rural Development, Land Restoration and Environmental Education. The Fellowship aims to support rural communities in India to restore their environment, build climate resilience and create long-term food security.
Responsibilities
The Fellowship will begin with a training at Sadhana Forest, Tamil Nadu campus. After this orientation, you will facilitate hands-on training on appropriate water conservation and tree planting techniques for local people in the rural area assigned to you.
You will gain significant knowledge and experience in:
- Water conservation – design and implementation
- Reforestation
- Biodiversity and ecosystem regeneration
- Long-term rural development
- Children’s environmental education
- Sustainable living (renewable energy, composting, etc.)
- Adapting to different cultural contexts
- Leadership
- Effective and compassionate communication
- Time management
Qualifications
No prior experience in the fields of environmentalism and ecology is required.
Location
The orientation for the Fellowship will start at the campus of Sadhana Forest in Auroville, Tamil Nadu. Upon completion of this stage, you will be assigned to one of the Plant 4 India canters in rural India. Your accommodation in these areas would be in sustainable campuses.
In-Fellowship Support
When posted in rural India, a monthly stipend will be provided to cover for expenses. Fellows will also have the support of a mentor.

Requirements
This is a vegan Fellowship. All Fellows need to follow a 100% plant-based diet and lifestyle for the full one year of the Fellowship and abstain from consuming any animal products including meat, fish, milk, dairy, eggs, honey.
This is a substance-free Fellowship. Fellows need to be 100% substance-free during the full one year of the Fellowship, totally abstaining from tobacco, alcohol and drugs for the entire Fellowship
