Aman Biradari is a people’s campaign to promote equal citizenship, justice, communal harmony and peace. Aman Biradari is pursuing justice for homeless and destitute children as well as victims of State-sponsored violence in Punjab and Gujarat. We require a volunteer researcher to gather and analyse information on a range of legal and policy issues relevant to our work. We see this research feeding into our legal work, including individual cases as well as wider lobbying efforts.
The ideal candidates would be undergraduate or graduate students, with strong research and writing skills, who is interested in access to justice, the right to equal treatment before the law, transparency and the right to information. The position will largely require online and library research. The individual need not be studying law, but should be willing to research and analyse legal materials, including court judgments, statutes, and Parliamentary debates. The researcher must be self reliant, be willing to go to different libraries in Delhi and able to grasp how a piece of research will fit into the larger task at hand.
This is an unpaid position. We require a commitment of 5-10 hours a week, for a minimum of 4 months. The researcher’s schedule would be flexible, though we would strongly prefer basic continuity in timing and schedule. He or she should be willing to work on occasional Saturdays, and preferably from our office in Lado Sarai for the first 4 weeks.
