AIMS International Summer Internship Competition (2008)
AIMS International (Association of Indian Management Scholars) is pleased to announce the Second All
India Summer Internship Competition for MBA (or equivalent) students. The list of winning projects for

Objectives:
a) To encourage MBA students to conduct innovative, high-quality summer internship projects
b) To provide a platform for a nationwide exposure of high-quality summer internship projects
c) To recognize and reward excellent projects by giving them monetary and other awards
d) To provide industries a consolidated single source of high-quality work done by MBA students
during the summer internship
e) To create an environment of interaction between MBA students and Indian industries for
mutual benefit and exploration of possible employment opportunities.
Eligibility:
a) The project must be completed in summer 2008.
b) The project must be completed by a single student. Group projects are not eligible.
c) The student must be enrolled in an MBA (or equivalent) programme.
Participation: Projects may either be nominated by a b-school or submitted directly by individual
students. One of the following options should be selected.
1. Institutional Nomination:
The nomination should be made by the b-school head (or an authorised faculty/officer). The
following documents should be sent:
a) A cover letter providing names of the nominated students and titles of their projects
submitted for the competition.
b) A submission form (http://aims-international.org
c) For each project, a letter from the company, certifying that the project was completed by
the concerned student.
d) A non-refundable submission fee of Rs. 500 per project. A 10% discount is available for
AIMS International institutional members. The membership form can be downloaded at:
http://aims-international.org
f) All required materials must be received by August 31, 2008. Late submissions will be
accepted until September 30, 2008 with a late fee of Rs. 400 per project. No further
extension will be given.
g) The project report should be prepared as per the guidelines given in the Appendix and
should be sent as an e-mail attachment to aisic@aims-international.org
2. Self Nomination:
Individual students are also eligible to participate directly in the competition. Please include the
following documents:
a) A submission form (http://aims-international.org
b) A letter from the company, certifying that the project was completed by the concerned
student.
c) A non-refundable submission fee of Rs. 500.
d)All required materials must be received by August 31, 2008. Late submissions will be
accepted until September 30, 2008 with a late fee of Rs. 400 per project. No further extension
will be given
e) The project report should be prepared as per the guidelines given in the Appendix and
should be sent as an e-mail attachment to aisic@aims-international.org.
Evaluation Process:
1. First, the projects will be evaluated by a regional committee, which will then make a
recommendation of selected projects to the national committee.
2. Each project will be sent to two external reviewers. Projects will be evaluated using a doubleblind
review process. (Reviewers and contestants will not know each other’s identity. This is
done to ensure objectivity and fairness in the evaluation process.)
3. The national committee will evaluate the projects short-listed by the regional committees and
identify finalists for the national competition.
4. The finalists will be invited to make presentations at the Sixth AIMS International Conference
on December 28-30, 2008 to be hosted by Indian Business Academy at Greater Noida. They
will need to arrange for travel and accommodation at their own expense.
Awards and Recognition:
1. All contestants will receive a participation certificate.
2. The top five winners will be given cash prizes of Rs. 25,000, 15,000, 7,500, 5,000 and 2,500,
respectively and citation certificates. The next five winners will be given a cash prize of Rs.
2,000 each and a consolation certificate. The remaining finalists who make a respectable
presentation will each be given a cash prize of Rs. 1,000 each and a consolation certificate.
3. All participating projects (project titles and student names) will be listed on the web site of
AIMS International
4. Executive summaries of submitted projects may be published in the form of a book.

APPENDIX
Guidelines for Preparing Project Report
1. For identification purposes, please use the following ten character coding scheme to create a Code for
your project. First six characters – PIN of your school; next two characters – first two letters of your last
name (in Capital Letters); the last two characters – first two letters of your first name.
(PIN: 6 digit Postal Index Number of physical location of your school as provided by Indian Postal
Service)
Ex. 1: If your name is Radha Maurya and your school’s PIN is 380015, ID of your file:
380015MARA.
Ex. 2: If you name is S. Rajaraman and your school’s PIN is 100010, ID of your file:
100010RASX. (X is for missing second letter in the first name).
2. The text should be prepared with 1.5 line spacing and 12-point Times New Roman Font with a margin
of one-inch on all four sides.
3. Two versions of the text should be prepared. Version A will have a cover page with your name,
address, e-mail, contact phone, school’s name, etc. Version B will NOT have this cover page. Ideally,
your name and name of school should not appear anywhere except Page 1, as this version will be sent
for review.
4. Submissions that are in poor form will automatically be rejected. Some examples of poor form are:
overwriting, too small or large margins, too small or large font size, different font type, etc.
5. There is a limit of maximum thirty pages. This limit is inclusive of tables, graphs, appendixes, if any.
For a longer project, please enclose a payment for excessive pages at the rate of Rs. 100 per page in
addition to the normal submission fee of Rs. 500. Manuscripts exceeding thirty pages and without a

payment for excessive pages will not be considered for the competition. The payment should be
made by a demand draft or cheque at par payable to “AIMS International,” and sent to
Vadodara along with all other materials.
6. It is strongly recommended to structure your report using the following:
Page 1: Project Title, Project Code, Company Name, address, contact person’s name, phone, e-mail;
Your name, address, phone, and e-mail; Your school’s name, address, contact person, his/her phone,
fax, e-mail.
Page 2: Project Title, Company Name
Page 3: Table of Contents
Page 4-5: Executive Summary (maximum 2 pages)
The rest of the project should ideally have the following sections: (it is not necessary to include all of
the below.)
Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and Recommendations
Appendices, Bibliography, Glossary
7. If you are using any tables, graphs, figures, text or any other materials from other sources, make sure to
provide full citations of the source.
8. All tables and graphs, figures must be numbered and should be referred to as such in the main body of
the text.
9. Since there will be no further opportunity of editing, it is strongly suggested that you have your paper
checked with a competent colleague or professional for syntax, grammar, etc. Projects with serious
writing problems will not be considered for the competition.
10. It is assumed that the project submitted is the original work of the author and necessary approvals have
been taken from all concerned parties, and no copyrights have been violated. AIMS International will
not be responsible for any such violations.
Submissions in violation of any of the above conditions may not be considered. Due to a tight schedule, no
such communication will be given to the submitting students. Inconvenience, if any, is deeply regretted.
